Located in the heart of the Ruhr-Valme-Elpe Valley, the town of Bestwig lies on the edge of the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park.
Highlights such as the Fort Fun Abenteuerland amusement park—with its famous Western town—and the Sauerland Visitor Mine, with its thrilling underground tour, delight countless visitors to this small town year after year. The Nuttlar Adventure Mine, which attracts diving enthusiasts from near and far for mine diving, is also a major draw for visitors.
Hikers on the Bestwig Panorama Trail are treated to breathtaking panoramic views time and again. The beautiful little half-timbered villages, such as Ostwig—with its old Steinbergruine—or the “Christmas tree village” of Heringhausen, invite visitors to take a leisurely stroll through the village. In addition, not far from the village of Wasserfall lies the only natural waterfall in North Rhine-Westfalen—the “Plästerlegge.” And the nearby Hennesee, with its swimming coves, entices visitors in the summer with a wide range of recreational activities.
