Starting now, you can “cycle for trees” on the RuhrtalRadweg!

In our anniversary year, 2026, a very special campaign awaits you: Ride to Plant Trees!

Ride the RuhrtalRadweg and do your part for climate protection! You ride, we plant a tree—it’s that simple.

The concept is simple: For every cyclist who rides the entire 240-kilometer RuhrtalRadweg, a tree will be planted in Winterberg as part of the “Planting Today for Tomorrow” campaign.

To prove that you’ve cycled the entire route, there’s a code at both the starting and ending points. You’ll find the sticker labeled “Bäume erradeln” on the information boards at the starting point in Winterberg (both on the information sign at the Winterberg train station and visible from the outside at the Winterberg Tourist Information Office) and at the end point in Duisburg  (the sticker is located on the sign at Duisburg’s Inner Harbor as well as at the Duisburg Tourist Information Office). Please note: Unfortunately, the sticker on the sign at Duisburg’s Inner Harbor does not adhere properly. If you want to be on the safe side and there is no sticker on the sign, please pedal a few more meters to the Tourist Information Office (Königstraße 86, 47051 Duisburg)

For anyone who can’t start in Winterberg due to current travel restrictions, a sticker has also been placed on the information board in Olsberg. You can scan this one as well.

You can submit the code you receive digitally at the end of your trip. The code works whether you ride the route from the source to the mouth or vice versa.

As a small token of appreciation and a keepsake, you’ll receive a certificate from us at the end confirming your tree sponsorship.
