In addition, a diverse culinary selection and a centrally located, free charging station for e-bikes are available. Since 2011, the “Art and Poetry Trail” has graced the route along the banks of the Ruhr. The town’s character is shaped by its location in the Ruhrtal. From a central town center with traditional residential and commercial areas, expansive green corridors stretch up the southern slope of the Haarstrang. The local pedestrian zone, with its cozy shops, makes shoppers’ hearts beat faster and invites you to take a break. In addition to farms, the landscape is characterized by medieval monasteries and time-honored manor houses. At the Alte Poststation in Wickede, where royalty once stayed overnight, you can still spend the night today and enjoy excellent food.
