The MöhnetalRadweg offers a wealth of opportunities for exploration. The Möhnetal reveals its most charming aspects, characterized by expansive floodplains, vast forests, and rolling hills. As part of the “Möhne Life” project, sections of the floodplains are being restored to their natural state. The restoration of flower-filled valley meadows and open floodplain forests promotes biodiversity in the low mountain range valleys and enhances the nature experience for cyclists.
Fans of rail-trail cycling appreciate the long, largely flat sections along the former railroad right-of-way.
A striking scenic highlight is Möhnesee, one of the largest reservoirs in North Rhine-Westfalen. The route stretches along its southern and northern shores, showcasing unspoiled nature. A sweeping view of the lake opens up from the dam, which is over 100 years old and is considered a significant architectural monument in North Rhine-Westfalen.
Arnsberg-Neheim offers a charming contrast to the rural route. This shopping town provides an urban atmosphere right on the Ruhr River, offering a welcome change of pace.

Safety guidelines
A system of emergency stops has been installed throughout the region (Soest District, Hochsauerland District, Märkischer Kreis, Olpe District, and Siegen-Wittgenstein District). You can find these emergency stops, among other places, on the information signs at the intersections of the Südwestfalen bicycle network.
Author Tip
As part of the "Möhne Life" restoration project, 13 rest and information stops were set up along the bike path, inviting visitors to take a break.

To Arnsberg-Neheim-Hüsten:
From Hagen: Hourly service without transfers
From Dortmund: Hourly service without transfers
To Brilon-Stadt:
From Hagen: Trains run nearly every hour (including weekends) with one transfer in Olsberg or Brilon-Wald.
From Kassel Central Station: Every two hours on weekdays with one transfer in Brilon-Wald.
RLG Regionalverkehr Ruhr-Lippe GmbH offers a special service for recreational cyclists. Thanks to the RLG bike buses, you can plan longer tours across the region or spontaneously have the rest of the way comfortably driven for you.
From late April through early October, with support from the Hochsauerland and Soest districts, bike trailers capable of carrying 16 bikes are provided on a total of four RLG routes on Sundays and holidays.
