The miners' prayer house, built in 1830, served as a central meeting place for miners in the Muttental valley and also as a smithy where the tools needed for mining were manufactured and repaired. This listed building is the last of its kind in the Ruhrgebiet. Extensive restoration work has made it possible to restore the forge to its former glory as a colliery forge. Visitors are given an insight into the working world and the cultural significance of mining.
