Let the current carry you along and discover the Ruhr in all its facets. Starting at the Ruhr’s source in the High Sauerland, the river will be your companion on an impressive and varied tour all the way to its mouth on the Rhine near Duisburg.

Day 1: Winterberg – Olsberg (20 km)
Make your own way to Winterberg. To get you in the mood, you’ll ride a short stage through the Hochsauerland, which includes some short, steep climbs. Along the way, it’s worth visiting Assinghausen, known as the “Rose Village.”

Day 2: Olsberg – Arnsberg (52 km)
After passing through picturesque Sauerland villages, you’ll reach Arnsberg in the afternoon. Between the castle ruins and the monastery district, the history of the Counts of Arnsberg, the Electors, and Prussia comes to life.

Day 3: Arnsberg – Schwerte (56 km)
Leuchten, manor houses, and green meadows define the scenery along the middle reaches of the Ruhr. Beyond the “Leuchtenstadt” (City of Lights) of Neheim, the Ruhrtal opens up wide, and quiet bike paths lead you all the way to the Altstadt of Schwerte. The mustard mill is famous, and a visit to the unique Rohrmeisterei is well worth your Lohn.
