VELTINS Ice Arena

The VELTINS-EisArena in Winterberg is one of seventeen artificial ice tracks worldwide and is considered the fourth oldest of its kind. Since its inauguration in December 1977, it has served as a central sports venue for luge, bobsled, and skeleton. The track stretches 1,609 meters in length, covers an elevation difference of 110 meters, and features 15 steep curves. Here, athletes reach speeds of up to 140 kilometers per hour.

The facility is among the most technically sophisticated in the world. It regularly hosts national and international competitions and serves as a training center for athletes. The track is open from mid-October through the end of February, giving visitors the opportunity to watch daily training sessions and numerous races. The VELTINS-EisArena, formerly a natural ice track with a history dating back to 1910, is a place that documents the development of ice sports in North Rhine-Westfalen.
