The VELTINS-EisArena in Winterberg represents one of seventeen artificial ice rinks worldwide and is considered the fourth oldest of its kind. Since its inauguration in December 1977, it has served as a central sports venue for luge, bobsleigh and skeleton sports. The track stretches over a length of 1609 meters, overcomes a height difference of 110 meters and integrates 15 steep bends. Athletes can reach speeds of up to 140 kilometers per hour here.
The course is one of the most technically demanding in the world. It regularly provides the setting for national and international competitions and serves as a training center for athletes. The track is open from mid-October to the end of February, giving visitors the opportunity to watch daily training sessions and numerous races. The VELTINS-EisArena, formerly a natural ice rink with a history dating back to 1910, is a place where the development of ice skating in North Rhine-Westphalia is documented.

You can explore the VELTINS-EisArena sports venue free of charge. The training sessions and smaller sporting events (apart from World Cups and World Championships) can also be visited free of charge.
