The Rothebach aqueduct is a technical structure that guides the water from the Boker Canal over the Rothebach. In contrast to natural watercourses, the water level of a canal is regulated by human intervention in order to avoid uncontrolled inflows. At this aqueduct, the water streams of the canal and Rothebach cross without mixing. There is another remarkable aqueduct near the northern shore of Lake Lippe: the Thune Aqueduct. This is a listed building and was renovated in 2018, making it an interesting destination for visitors.

Directions

By car: Take the A 33 freeway to the Pad-Schloß Neuhaus exit; then head towards Münster. At the exit to Sande, turn right into Sennelagerstraße and immediately left again into Ostenländer Straße. After about one kilometer you will reach the bridge over the Boker Canal. From here, walk left along the canal path for about 300 meters to the aqueduct. Parking is available at the beginning of the canal path.
