The LWL Museum Hannover Colliery in Bochum offers an impressive insight into the history of mining. The striking Malakow tower, reminiscent of a medieval castle, was in operation from 1857 to 1973 and extracted hard coal. In the machine hall, the historic steam hoisting machine from 1893 is set in motion during demonstrations. It is considered to be the oldest example of its kind in the Ruhrgebiet that can still be seen in its original location. The "Zeche Knirps" mining playground offers a special experience for young visitors.
