LWL-Museum Zeche Hannover in Bochum - experience mining history up close

It looks like a medieval castle, but was actually a mine. From 1857 to 1973, Hannover Colliery produced coal in its mighty Malakow Tower. In the machine hall, the large driving wheel of the steam hoisting machine from 1893 rotates during demonstrations. It is the oldest example that can be experienced at its original location in the Ruhrgebiet.
The highlight for the youngest visitors is the "Zeche Knirps" mining playground.
