With its 333 steps, the Himmelstreppe on Hennedamm is an architectural highlight that connects Hennepark with the Hennesee dam. From its upper platform, visitors are treated to a sweeping view of Meschede and the surrounding lake landscape. Particularly noteworthy is the staircase’s illuminated display in the evening hours, which creates a striking visual experience. During the Advent season, the structure is further accentuated by the silhouette of an illuminated Christmas tree. A drinking fountain is located at the foot of the staircase. The Himmelstreppe is accessible exclusively on foot. It serves as a key feature of the HenneBoulevard, a roughly two-kilometer-long path connecting downtown Meschede with the Hennesee. Along its route, this boulevard offers additional themed stops and experiences that bring the natural and aquatic landscape to life.

The Himmelstreppe is not accessible by car! Parking options: - "Am Stadtpark 6" hiking parking lot, about a 500-meter walk - “Am Hennesee” parking lot (formerly “Berghausen”), near the Ruhrverband and tennis courts, about a 650-meter walk to the Himmelstreppe - as well as additional parking spaces along the B55 by Hennesee Located along the “HenneBoulevard” walking path Bus line S70 (toward Eslohe) connects Meschede, Eslohe, and Hennesee, where the Himmelstreppe is located. The nearest bus stops are “Am Stadtpark” or “Meschede, Hennesee.”
