The Danzturm, a 28-metre-high observation tower at 384.5 m above sea level in Iserlohn's city forest, represents a striking landmark. Originally built as a telegraph station, the structure offers a far-reaching view over the region. A restaurant completes the offer and the tower is also accessible for events on request.

The Danzturm, named after the honorary citizen of Iserlohn, Professor Ernst Danz, whose commitment was to higher education and the reforestation of the city forest, is a striking landmark. It was erected in 1908/1909 in connection with the former optical telegraph station no. 43 on the Fröndenberg, 384.5 meters above sea level. It was financed by donations from Iserlohn's merchants and residents. The architects Gebrüder Fromme designed the 28-metre-high tower, which was built by the Otto Schmidt company. The inauguration ceremony took place on May 22, 1909.
From the viewing platform of the Danzturm, you can enjoy a comprehensive view over the Sauerland and the Hellweg, as far as Dortmund, Unna and Hamm on a clear day. A commemorative plaque on the tower honors Professor Danz as a founding member of the Sauerland Mountain Association. The building survived both world wars unscathed.
In the winter months, the adjacent meadow offers opportunities for tobogganing and skiing, occasionally under floodlights, and is the venue for the annual town skiing championships. The tower is available for events on request.
