The Boker Heid waterworks, in operation since 2000, uses three horizontal filter wells to produce drinking water. This process is illustrated on an informative drinking water nature trail, which is located directly at the waterworks. Here, 16 display boards invite visitors to trace the complex history of drinking water production. The boards clearly illustrate the entire process - from the extraction of the water to the treatment technology and distribution. The influence of precipitation and environmental factors on the water supply is also highlighted. The practical benefits for visitors are central: An inviting rest area with seating and a table allows visitors to take a relaxing break in the midst of nature. This place offers both interesting insights into ecological relationships and an opportunity for relaxed leisure activities. The rest area and nature trail are accessible all year round, giving visitors flexibility in planning their visit.

Directions

Take the A 33 freeway to the Pad.-Schloß Neuhaus exit; then head towards Rheda-Wiedenbrück / Delbrück. Drive past the Lippesee and Paderborn-Sande. At the first set of traffic lights, turn left onto Graf-Meerveldt-Straße (L 815) in the direction of Lippstadt. After about 200 meters turn left into the street "Im Dorfe". Follow this road - past the church - for about 700 meters until you reach the waterworks.
