Sauerland Museum

Welcome to the Sauerland Museum in Arnsberg

The Sauerland Museum is the Hochsauerland district’s cultural history museum dedicated to the history of Südwestfalen.
As a museum and cultural forum housed in a multi-award-winning building, it enriches cultural life in the Sauerland with engaging exhibitions and events.

In the historic Landsberger Hof, the Sauerland Museum’s permanent exhibition traces the region’s history from its Stone Age origins through the Duchy of Westfalen to the present day. 

The new building is currently hosting the special exhibition “WUNDER WALD” (WONDER FOREST), which explores the economic and cultural history of the forest in the Sauerland, through October 29.

Cyclists are warmly welcome at the museum. There are permanently installed bike racks in the museum courtyard. During your visit, you can charge your e-bikes at one of the six charging stations.

After a long bike ride, the museum café—which features outdoor seating—offers refreshments such as a cool shandy or, of course, coffee and cake.

Guided tours for groups can be booked individually.

Tue. 9 a.m.–6 p.m., Wed.–Fri. 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Sat. 2 p.m.–6 p.m., Sun. and holidays: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
