New target groups

The RuhrtalRadweg team is currently working on various measures as part of the "New target groups" project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport from funds for the implementation of the National Cycling Plan. "New target groups" - what does that mean?

What is this project about?
The overarching aim is to get a broader range of people interested in cycling and the use of bicycles in everyday life. We want to appeal to groups of people who have previously received less attention in the marketing of cycle tourism offers.
The focus is on families, who often do not find suitable child-friendly offers, people with a migration background, who have so far been little integrated into cycle tourism offers, and the so-called "expeditive" milieu (according to the Sinus Institute), which is looking for innovative and modern offers.

In short:
We want to show the RuhrtalRadweg as young, colorful and diverse as it and the region around it are and invite you to also explore the diverse offers to the right and left of the path by bike! First impressions of the project can already be found in the tour guide. To stay up to date, follow us on Instagram and Facebook!

At the start of the project in summer 2024, a cycle tourism evaluation was carried out on the RuhrtalRadweg with a focus on people with a history of migration. The results can be viewed in the following report."
