The municipality of Bestwig is located in the middle of the Ruhr-Valme-Elpe valley on the edge of the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park.
Highlights such as the Fort Fun Abenteuerland amusement park with its famous western town and the Sauerland visitor mine with its exciting mine tour delight countless guests to the small community year after year. The Nuttlar adventure mine, which attracts sports enthusiasts from near and far for mine diving, is also a magnet for visitors.
Hikers can enjoy breathtaking views along the Bestwig Panorama Trail. The beautiful little half-timbered villages such as Ostwig, with its old Steinbergruine ruins, or the "Christmas tree village" of Heringhausen invite you to take a leisurely stroll through the village. Not far from the village of Wasserfall is the only natural waterfall in North Rhine-Westphalia - the "Plästerlegge". And the nearby Hennesee with its bathing bays offers a wide range of leisure activities in summer.
