As the first cycle route in a metropolitan area, the RuhrtalRadweg was certified as an ADFC quality route in December 2009. The four-star certification was renewed in 2012, 2015 and most recently in 2018 for another 3 years.

On a bike trip, the way is usually the goal - and therefore this route should be of good quality. This good quality of the RuhrtalRadweg has now received an official confirmation by the ADFC. The varied routing with numerous attractions along the way and the connection of the route to public transport are to be emphasized.

The evaluation of the following criteria has resulted in the RuhrtalRadweg being awarded four stars:

Since the accommodations along the route also have an important influence on the quality of the bike trip, since 2015 all partner establishments, which you can find in the tour guide and under Hosts & Packages, have been certified by the ADFC as a Bett+Bike establishment.
