Schwerte, the old Westphalian Hanseatic city in the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, is increasingly developing into a popular destination for adventure and recreation seekers and offers weekend travellers and short holidaymakers in particular attractive cultural and sporting leisure opportunities.

The most beautiful access is found by cyclists who approach Schwerte through the green Ruhr flood plains. Even from afar, the striking tower of St. Victor's Church greets you with its westward inclined top and invites you to discover the breathtaking historic centre with its romantic corners and lovingly maintained half-timbered houses and look for attractive photo backgrounds. A varied culinary offerinng awaits visitors throughout the city and will spoil them with foreign specialities or Westphalian delicacies in a pleasant and stylish atmosphere. And let's not forget to try the traditional local dish, the "Schwerter Pannekauken". Schwerte is also the most densely wooded town in the district of Unna and it is therefore a very popular hiking area. The walking and hiking trails, which are marked throughout and maintained by the Sauerland Mountain Club (SGV), extend over a total length of almost 180 km.
