ADFC-premium route

Award-winning travels - four stars for the Ruhr Valley cycle path

As the first cycle route in a conurbation, the Ruhr Valley cycle path was certified as an ADFC quality route in December 2009. The four-star certification was renewed in 2012, 2015 and has been confirmed in 2018 again.

On a bicycle tour, the route is usually the destination - and therefore the route should be of good quality. This good quality of the Ruhr Valley cycle path has now been officially confirmed by the ADFC. The varied route guidance with numerous attractions along the way and the connection of the route to public transport is particularly worth mentioning.

The following criteria led to the Ruhr Valley cycle path being awarded four stars:

  • Unique name
  • "National Rank"
  • Navigability
  • Surface
  • Signposting
  • Route guidance
  • Tourist infrastructure
  • Connection of the route to public transport
  • Marketing

Since the accommodation along the route also has an important influence on the quality of the cycle tour, all partner companies that you can find in the tour guide and under Hosts & Packages have been certified by the ADFC as Bett+Bike companies since 2015. The ADFC seal of quality promises bicycle-friendly accommodations that are fully aware of the needs and wishes of cyclists and optimally cater to them.
