Winterberg climbing forest
From eleven meters up, the forest floor is quite a long way down. Anyone who dares to climb up here will feel the thrill of adventure. In the Winterberg climbing forest - one of the highlights on the Erlebnisberg Kappe in Winterberg - skill and courage are needed. Between the sky and the ground, over 60 stations await visitors, divided into seven routes with different degrees of difficulty. Balance beams, bridges, nets, ropeways and much more present a challenge to guests. Even children aged eleven and above can climb here on their own. There is a children’s route for younger children.
Next door, in the largest and most varied bike park in Germany, is where the mountain bikers set off. There is the right terrain for everyone here, from beginners to experienced bikers. A dirt hill, wall rides, tables and tricky trails, including several new routes, will make bikers’ hearts beat faster. For riders and their bikes, there’s a convenient 6- and 4-seater chair lift to take them uphill.
Panorama Erlebnis Brücke
The Panorama Erlebnis Brücke, or “Panorama Experience Bridge”, is a 20 meter-high trail above the treetops. From here, walkers have a great view out over Winterberg, the Veltins Ice Arena and the surrounding hills. Five fun elements provide an extra kick: visitors who have a head for heights can climb hand over hand high above the ground, surrounded by secure protective nets, over wobbly bridges or swinging platforms.
Nature experience path
At the final tower of the bridge, squirrel Kappi accompanies families along the nature experience path. At interactive stations such as the “insect hotel”, the “platform of the senses” or the “animals’ long jump”, children learn about the forest and its inhabitants.
Summer toboggan run
On the summer toboggan run, guests race down into the valley on the 700-meter course, along curves and over bridges and jumps. The adventure site has plenty of surprises on offer, with minigolf, a “Kiss the Sky” trampoline, kids’ cars, mini-diggers and, from September 2017, a new children’s playground for infants.
Guided Segway tours (book here in the active store)
Another exciting experience are the guided Segway tours along the Winterberg sports facilities and attractions, including the Veltins Ice Arena, the ski jump and the centre of Winterberg.
Anyone who prefers a more comfortable way of seeing the sights can take the Kappe Express guided tour and see Winterberg through the large panorama windows. The fiery red train travels to and fro between the centre of Winterberg and the Erlebnisberg Kappe several times a day.
Panorama Café Restaurant
For a relaxed break over drinks and delicious snacks, we recommend the Panorama Café Restaurant with its large sun terrace. With seating for up to 100 people on the terrace, the restaurant, with its fabulous sweeping views, is popular with day trippers and is ideally suited for groups.
