Altstadt Herdecke
Herdecke's location along the Ruhr rover between Hengstey lake and Harkort lake is certainly a privilege, which is also reflected in the city itself: the historic city centre with its pretty half-timbered houses is quaint and beautiful.

The lovingly restored town centre is also an inviting place for visitors to town to stroll and shop. Of course, you can also sit in one of the cafés and watch others do it.
At the entrance to the town centre, there is the Sackträgerbrunnen (bag-carrier fountain), which refers to the market rights already granted to the town of Herdecke in 1355: In order to reach the Kornmarkt, the sack bearers had to drag the sacks of grain through the narrow alleys of Herdecke. Today it is only shopping bags that are dragged there.
